Dream big, but don’t lose sight of today
Do you ever have those mornings when you just don’t want to get up?
Today was one of those days for me.
All morning I tried to trick my brain, shake it off, and push through. I stuck to my routine—stretching, working out, ending with a brief meditation. While doing this, I listened to Every Day A Friday by Joel Osteen. Good stuff. He talks about treating every day like Friday—the day everyone looks forward to. It’s payday. The weekend is here. Now you can finally enjoy your life.
But why can’t we just enjoy today, no matter the circumstances?
I catch myself focusing on the I-Don’t-Haves:
I don’t have a nice car.
I don’t have a nice house.
I’m not married.
I don’t have kids.
And yet—I do have my health. Not ideal, but still mine. So many people would trade for it in a heartbeat. Yes, my ears ring constantly, but I can hear. I don’t read well, numbers get jumbled, but I can read and calculate just fine.
It’s funny how easily I forget. I think I’m entitled to more, but why can’t I be happy with what I already have, right where I am?
I believe in dreaming big and expecting more. But I also can’t lose sight of how much I already hold in my hands.
It’s Tuesday.
It’s a good day.
My day.
I have everything I need.
I get to go to work.
I get to smile.
I get to walk.
I get to breathe, see, and hear.
It’s so great to be alive.
💙 I’m blessed to be alive!
