Six years behind the wheel taught me a few things.
I’m going into my sixth year driving for Uber.
And at this point, nobody can tell me anything about rideshare I don’t already know.
Especially the Greenville and Charleston, South Carolina markets.
I’ve done it all.
Nights. Days. Early mornings.
I’ve seen it all too.
Anything that can happen in rideshare has probably happened to me.
The good.
The bad.
And the ugly.
And after all these years, there are two invaluable lessons I’ve learned.
Number One
Everything Uber does is designed to get you to take a ride you don’t want to take.
Everything.
The surges.
The bonuses.
The status.
All of it is designed around their interests.
Not yours.
Don’t forget this—you are 1099.
They can’t penalize you for not taking rides.
They can only stop offering you more.
And trust me… that’s not going to happen.

Number Two
And this might be the most important lesson of all:
Don’t tell other drivers what you’re doing—
or you won’t be doing it much longer.
If you find something that works for you, keep it quiet.
Ride it until it dies.
Otherwise, I assure you, it won’t last long.
That’s just how it works.
As for the rest of my advice?
You know… my lips are zipped. 😄
