“Free Inspection?”

“Free Inspection?”

“Free Inspection?”

“Free Inspection?”

Intro:

“FREE Crawlspace Inspection!” You’ve seen the ads, right? It sounds like a win—you get answers without paying a dime.

But here’s the truth: free inspections aren’t free. They’re sales pitches dressed up as helpful advice. And if you don’t know what’s going on, you could be walking into a $10,000 mistake.

Let me break it down for you.

What’s Behind the “Free”

I spent years working in this industry—sales, management, even owning my own company. And I can tell you, the word “free” is the hook. The whole point is to get someone in your crawlspace, then hit you with the biggest, most expensive package they can.

Here’s the problem:

  • Most “inspectors” aren’t builders—they’re salespeople.

  • They don’t give you options. It’s all or nothing.

  • Their goal? Sell you the Cadillac solution, even if a basic tune-up would work.

Why It Matters

If you’re not careful, that “free inspection” can turn into:

  • Pressure to sign a contract on the spot

  • A $20,000+ bill for work you might not even need

  • No transparency on what’s optional vs. essential

Sound harsh? It’s reality. I know because I trained sales teams to do exactly this.

The Smarter Move

Don’t let fear tactics make your decisions. Here’s what I recommend:

  1. Educate Yourself First – Know the basics before anyone steps foot in your crawlspace.

  2. Get Multiple Opinions – Don’t sign anything on the first visit. Ever.

  3. Consider a Paid, Third-Party Inspection – Someone who isn’t trying to sell you the solution will give you the truth.

Bottom Line:

Free inspections aren’t evil, but they’re not unbiased. They’re marketing tools. If you want real answers, arm yourself with facts first. That’s why I created this guide—and the others in this series.
